Golestan province is famous for the occurrence of historical and destructive floods, especially in 2005 and 2006. Floods are known as one of the deadliest natural disasters that have caused many fatalities and homelessness throughout history. They have also destroyed agricultural lands, tools, and livestock. On the other hand, this province is facing the problem of drainage and surface runoff due to the low soil permeability in a large part of the province. The statistics show that floods have threatened the development efforts of Golestan every year.
Therefore, solving the problem of flooded lands in the southern of Qarasu has been considered by water and soil management of the Jihad Agricultural Organization. In this regard, the first and second phases of studies, and monitoring the drainage of the southern lands of the Qarasu River were handed over to the Mouj Ab Fan company.
Geographical location:
The project is divided into two areas. The first area includes a part of the sloping and sedimentary plains of the Qarasu river basin in Gorgan, Yasaki, Kordkoy, and Bandar-e-Gaz. The second area is located in the southern part of Gorganrood.
